CdG Play & Converse Drop New Collab Sneakers: Price, Release Date

The CdG PLAY label of COMME des GARÇONS is launching a new Converse collaboration that looks surprisingly similar to the old ones. That’s okay, though, because there’s always a market for funny-hearted shoes.

Using essentially the same color scheme as the red and tan CdG PLAY x Converse first seen earlier this year, CdG PLAY’s latest sneaker collaboration brings some minor design changes.

Notably, the shoes swap and reverse all their tongues, so the tan pair has the tongue of the black shoes and vice versa. This goes for the low and high pairs, which now feature the size information on the outside of the tongue.

It is more or less that. The red sole, white toe cap, contrasting heel and Filip Pągowski’s unmistakable CdG PLAY logo remain unchanged.

It’s been a great year of subtle updates for CdG Play, which has subtly innovated its best-selling Converse Chuck Taylors with hidden hearts and all-over branding that riffs on the popularity of that heart-shaped logo, even adding branding. at the very first CDG Play Outerwear Collaboration.

If you’re not already a fan, these kicks probably won’t sway you. But, if you’re like most casual CdG fans, you’ve already got a pair or two of these bad boys walking around and a fun new colorway is the perfect opportunity to revisit CdG PLAY’s ultra-wearable Converse.

You won’t have to wait long, though you won’t get many cop opportunities if you’re in America or Europe: the new CdG PLAY x Converse high-top and low-top trainers drop July 6th at Dover Street Market Ginza and select Japanese flagships COMME des GARÇONS for around $150 each.
