Collaborations have been the focus of Converse’s attention lately, as they’ve kicked off projects like UNDEFEATED, thisisneverthat, and Rick Owens DRKSHDW. However, it returns our attention to its GR range to unveil one of its latest exclusive offers: the Converse Jack Purcell “Matcha” colourway.
You can probably guess by its namesake that this next iteration is inspired by matcha powder – an ingredient often found in delicious Japanese desserts and teas. To better translate the look and feel of it, Converse concocts the uppers of the lifestyle silhouette with green uppers in recycled wool. The rubber toe cap – which is the signature of this model – is adorned with white panels on the front and a green matcha-inspired section closer to the throat. The shoes come factory with white laces, but they also come packaged with a second set of brown laces to mimic the bean paste and chocolate items that matcha is often served with. The midsoles complement the kicks with an eggshell exterior and are marked with Jack Purcell bumper stickers.
If you are interested, retailers like BILLY’s Tokyo opened preorder for these until November 21 and they’re priced at 11,000 (around $ 96 USD)
