Converse Space Jam collection releases Friday
The headliner of this collection is one of the latest additions from Coverse to benefit from the Tune Squad treatment. These monsters Run Star Motion the sneakers feature a galaxy print upper juxtaposed with the iconic Warner Bros. bullseye. Seemingly devoured by the gargantuan CX foam midsole, the ridged toe and heel bring a multitude of meanings to the term “groovy.”
On the lighter side, the new “Lola” leather stockings give a chic touch to some court classics. The all-white perforated leather upper is tagged with familiar fur. Stars and blonde stripes look away from their inspiration, an embroidered portrait of a Mrs. Lola Bunny. However, you can find its name gracing the heel tab, alongside pops of candy pink that make up the mesh lining.
Now let’s see what Converse has up for what is arguably their most iconic figure, the Chuck Taylor All Star. As mentioned above, you can create your own version of this classic high top shoe with three color options for body, tongue and more, plus a myriad of Tune Squad portraits to sport to the side. But if you can’t quite pick a favorite, this techno black edition manages to fit just about everyone.
And finally, inspired by LeBron James, backsetball legend turned savior of the multiverse, the Tune Sqad Chuck 70s. Rich, vintage color blocks meet old-fashioned quilting on these one-of-a-kind high top shoes. These kicks are a time capsule of ’90s glow, lending its design to the early days of the original film. And speaking of debuts, you’ll be able to enjoy every piece in this collection when it releases on July 16, just in time for the premiere of Space Jam: A New Legacy.
There’s a lot to enjoy in Converse’s latest Space Jam collaboration, from over-the-top designs to the wide variety of styles available. The Run Star Motion sneakers clearly stand out. They bring a cosmic coloring and a cartoonish zest to already exaggerated shoes. And as a personal Ms. Bunny’s fan, it’s always nice to see her get the performance she deserves. With so many Space Jam collaborations flooding virtual shelves this week, these sneakers bring more of that classic Looney Tunes heart to their design than others. And for a more understated look, don’t forget to check out Nike’s “Hare Force 1” socks before they are gone for good.
