“Give back the green M&M’s little hoochie heels”
This Week on the Internet: The Green M&M has had his signature white boots removed, and the memes about the whole situation are hilarious.
Last week (January 20), Mars announced that the beloved chocolate M&M’S characters would receive global rebranding to make them more “current” and “representative of our consumer”.
According to The Hill, the company said in a statement that the characters will feature “an updated tone of voice that is more inclusive, welcoming, and unifying, while remaining rooted in our signature buffoon, wit, and humor.”
The changes are mainly in the character’s shoes; the Yellow M&M went from low-tops to high-tops, the Red M&M went from slip-ons to lace ups, and the Brown M&M went from a killer stiletto to a block heel (a real crime!).
But green M&Ms?! It has a whole new vibe. Those coveted white go-go boots are gone and replaced by sensible white sneakers.
Speaking about the reasoning behind the shoe change, Anton Vincent, president of Mars Wrigley North America said CNN that the shoe is “a subtle signal, but it’s a signal that people really pick up on.”
The Green M&M’s new look has now sparked a ton of hilarious memes, and even crazier headlines, including one from Rolling Stone that reads, “Let the Green M&M Be a Nasty Little Slut.”
From comments about Green M&M’s “de-yassifying” to jokes about being kicked out of Euphoria High School, here are all the funniest reactions to the rebranding.

It’s interesting that you think the green m&m can’t be a whore in some reeboks

M&M’S even responded to the conversation surrounding the go-go boots erasure. On Twitter, the brand replied to a user who wrote: “Go Go boots are much better! saying, “Are you trying to wear them every day for 20 years straight?”
They also confirmed that the Green M&M did NOT “throw” them.
Thank goodness we cleared that up.
Are you trying to wear them every day for 20 years straight?
