MultiVersus is the party fight gift that keeps on giving, many acquisitions from Warner Bros. being pitted against each other in seemingly implausible, yet immensely enjoyable ways. The latest additions to the list included LeBron James’ fictional Space Jam, followed by two well-known and beloved modern hits from Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim: rick and morty. While Rick Sanchez doesn’t yet have a confirmed release date, his grandson, Morty Smith, will soon be playable. MultiVersus: Morty Release Date, Moveset & Abilities
As it stands, we know Morty is coming out as a playable character for Season 1 with a likely release date of August 9, 2022, when the season kicks off. His grandfather, jaded alcoholic genius scientist Rick Sanchez, may appear later in Season 1 and has already had major leaks for his moves and abilities, so read here for more details.
W.B. Games made it more apparent that the characters were coming soon with the launch of their Cromulons Community Challenge at the end of July, which would unlock the Cromulons stage featured in the Season 2 episode “Get Schwifty” once 10 million ringouts would have been collectively achieved by MultiVersus players. This challenge was completed in an incredible 3 hours, a testament to the popularity and vibrant community the game already has.
Although there is no official moveset listed for Morty yet, WB Games is cited as developing Morty as a projectile-focused hunterwith abilities centered around rapid movement across the stage and against blows being at his disposal. How this will manifest in the game is still up in the air, but it will likely feature him at his most ruthlessly proficient level, given his proficiency with laser guns and grenade weapons by Season 5 of the series. series. If you have a good Rick player on your side and you’ve mastered this character to pull off sneaky licks and keep the enemy stuck, they’ll have good reason to say, “There you go, kid.” Now you are also Evil Morty.
MultiVersus: Morty Skins and More!
This is purely speculative, but it seems like a reasonable possibility that we’ll see the various iterations of Evil Morty as a skin, though it would be nice if, for a Morty counter, we saw his sentient arm, Armothy, from the season. 3 episode “Rickmancing the Stone” throwing opponents like ragdolls. For now, though, we’ll have to wait and see what WB has up its sleeves, so keep an eye out for August 9! So make sure your grapple shoes are on, so you don’t fall victim to an early ringou!
