Luca Benini’s Italian mainstay Slam Jam is a collaborative powerhouse. From celebrating legendary Ibiza club Amnesia in a recent three-way collaboration to collaborating with Salomon, AC Milan, Our Legacy, Fila, DEVO and New Era this year alone, Slam Jam is now adding Vans to its roster of partners. , showing off his take on the Vans Sk8-Hi.
Considered the undisputed king of shoes in skate culture, the Vans Sk8-Hi is an instantly recognizable classic that’s outdone trends, standing the test of time as a sneaker that transcends all manner of regimented fashions. Instead, a Sk8-Hi is a sneaker for the masses, and with that, a sneaker capable of acting as a blank canvas for creatives, fashion houses and brands.
That’s where Slam Jam comes in, adding its distinct punk undertones to the touches that make this pair fit into the label’s (Un)Corporate Uniform ideology. The sneaker now sports a reversed internal and external colorway, with black suede meeting ecru canvas on the upper, sitting alongside branded waxed laces, a mid-panel Slam Jam tag, leather Vans stripes and a circular emblem. Reversed “A” embossed in the back heel cups.
Elsewhere, the waffle outsole is decorated with a heavy-duty ink graphic designed by British artist Fergus “Fergadelic” Purcell, who was inspired by ’70s psychedelia. counter-culture, drawing on both the identity of Slam Jam and what skate communities stand for.
So far, all we know is that the collaborative pair will hit Slam Jam’s store and online on September 22. Take a closer look at the pair above.
