If your inner hoop was awakened by the exploits of Giannis Antetokounmpo in the NBA Finals, you’re in luck. The Jordan brand has just officially announced the Air Jordan 36 with a new cutting-edge silhouette offered in a range of fresh colors.
The new Air Jordan 36s were first spotted at the feet of Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum in May, followed by Luka DonÄiÄ’s design announcement a month later. The Jordan Brand design team’s muse for the new shoe was âlightweight,â the definition of which was decided separately by each team.
This lightness is visible in the construction of the Jacquard Leno-Weave upper, designed to keep the shoe as breathable as possible while you hammer the boards.
âIn the basketball landscape, we wanted to create a new language for light,â explained Jacqueline Lefferts, Jordan Brand Lead Materials Designer.

Other new features include the full-length Zoom Air Strobel unit, which works in tandem with Jordan Brand’s signature herringbone outsole pattern, for a responsive shoe and great traction on the court. This was a specific goal of the design, delivering a lightweight shoe that moves quickly through the air.
The new Air Jordan 36 has several references to the infinity symbol, both on a tongue near the heel and in a foam ring that traces its way around the midsole. This motif is a low-key nod to the seemingly endless influence Michael Jordan has had on culture, as well as basketball.
âWe brought subtle details to the Air Jordan VI and created a toolkit that reflects Michael’s enduring influence in global culture,â said Tate Keurbis, Jordan Brand Footwear Designer.
It’s a shoe that focuses on the details, without any element that hasn’t been carefully considered. Even the Air Jordan 36’s sockliner has been perforated to save as much weight as possible.
The Air Jordan 36 is currently available worldwide in eight different colorways with an MSRP of $ 260.
