Editor’s notes: Vintage-inspired sneakers are getting some serious wins in 2021, and as big advocates of making sure your sneakers get all the love they deserve, we couldn’t be happier.
Everyone’s getting in on the action – New Balance’s 2002R protection pack opted for the deconstructed and worn-out vintage style, while Nike’s upcoming “Aged Navy” Dunk Lows took a more subtle approach to branding. the incoming wave of yellowed soles.
Converse’s turn for some pre-loved sensations has arrived courtesy of Seoul-based brand, thisisneverthat. An aesthetically named “New Vintage,” the collection features the One Star and Chuck 70 in a desirable palette of off-white and navy blue.
Both styles were constructed from a fuzzy, distressed suede inspired by the golden years of ’90s sportswear. For the Chuck 70, the off-white color of the upper is contrasted with yellow-tinted soles and a toebox matching, giving them the look of your parents’ favorite pair of back-of-the-loft sneakers.
For the One Star, the upper takes on the appearance of a pair of black shoes that have been tossed in the washing machine too many times or taken a few knocks while playing football.
Both silhouettes are finished with text and numbers printed on their midsoles, thanks to thisisneverthat.
