Editor’s notes: Chi-Town legend IBN Jasper has teamed up with Converse again for this upcoming One Star Ox collection.
If you were there for the Louis Vuitton Don Days or watched the jeen-yuhs trilogy, then you’ve probably heard of Ibn Jasper. Few people have climbed the ranks from barber to designer, and even fewer have shoes bearing their name, but Jasper proves he’s cut from a different fabric.
Jasper aka Ferrari Murakami aka the Vulcanized King is no stranger to the sneaker game. In addition to designing kicks for his Stratica International brand, previous collaborations with Diamond Supply Co. and Converse are testament to his approach. Ye even named a shoe from his iconic Louis Vuitton drop after the Chicago native.
Inspired by the hit TV series Overhaulin, this retro-modded Converse collaboration sits squarely at the intersection of motorsports and skateboarding. The One Star features an extra toe box and vulcanized heel support that almost mimics car bumpers, but works to aid the skater’s lateral movements.
The interior features a terrycloth lining and a cork-infused Ortholite footbed. Jasper even goes a step further with an extra polyurethane foam strobel (think those comfy mats hairdressers stand on) for double impact protection to keep you comfortable for any task. A reflective 3M snakeskin heel bumper and gold eyelets complete this one-of-a-kind shoe.
While you probably won’t be in the market for the LV Jaspers anytime soon, you can grab the limited-edition Converse collab from the Highsnobiety store starting May 20.
